Our Infant and Toddler Program includes curriculum to help children develop routines and gain the experience needed to be successful! Here are some of the benefits of our program.
Communication Development
Children’s communication skills include more than speaking words. Infants may begin developing a language as early as three months old! Whether with gestures, facial expressions or crying for attention, they begin to communicate with us very early on.
Our program is designed to help encourage different levels of speech development. The staff at Carrier Academy of Learning teaches American Sign Language to infants and toddlers before they can form words to help them communicate feelings and emotions. This can also be translated to life at home, helping parents better understand their child’s needs.
Sensory Environment
Sensory play can help stimulate a child’s senses and develop an imagination. Our program includes many activities to accomplish this, such as story books, music, toys and new foods. If weather permits, we also schedule exploring natural outdoor elements into our day.
Providing children the ability to interact with different toys and experience new behaviors is a great learning opportunity. We also develop important classroom routines, including hellos and goodbyes, meal and nap times!
Our Monthly Themes
Each month, our teachers and staff plan special themes for lessons and activities. We want to make sure each is a positive and fun learning experience. Themes vary depending on age to ensure each child is in the appropriate environment. Some examples include Under the Sea,
Colors and Shapes, Physical Me, At the Zoo and On the Farm.
For even younger students, themes include Nursery Rhymes, Peek-A-Boo, My World Around Me and Friends. Combined with daily classroom routines, these monthly themes can be very beneficial to your child’s overall development.
